[REVIEW] Bioré UV AQUA Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA++++

This is one of the most raved sunscreen in the Asian Beauty community these year, I guess. Is it worth the praises? Let’see.

When I first try this sunscreen some time ago, I had these mild purging phase, which I consider “normal” because my skin tends to purge in the first weeks when I change my skin care routine. But, at that time I don’t know what to feel about this sunscreen because I think it’s just work…. okay on me? Considering the price point and all, I just think that I should go with my trustee (yet cheap!) Wardah Sunscreen Gel.

However, when I’m testing it out more, I think I know why so many people love this sunscreen so much.

1.It works both as sunscreen and primer

I found out about it after the second or the third time I’m testing it out. The first time I realized that this sunscreen also works as primer was when I put Etude House Face Blur as my primer before foundation and I found that my foundation were piling up afterwards. I suspect that either I put too much product onto my face or that this Bioré UV AQUA Rich Watery Essence also works as primer.

Therefore, after I researched more about this SPF, I found out that many Japanese sunscreen also works as sunscreen. I think it will be good for anyone that love 2 in 1 product or for busy working girls out there.

2. It’s light weight and not leave any white cast

If you are not new into facial sunscreen, you might notice that facial and body sunscreen is indeed different. Facial sunscreen tends to be more light weight rather than the almost always sticky and weird textured body SPF. But this sunscreen is more light weight than any other facial sunscreen that I’ve ever tried so far. It has this pretty milky texture at first, but set similar like silicon based primer, hence the reason why this sunscreen also works as primer. Plus, it didn’t leave any white cast, which is always a positive point.

However, in the negative side, I think that this SPF is slightly drying for me. Although it’s not major, since I could apply more hydrating moisturizer beforehand. But I think you should be careful to put a certain kind of foundation after the Bioré UV AQUA Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA++++ because it would make a certain foundation pilled up or something.

In conclusion, I feel like this SPF does its job to protect my skin. Nevertheless, I don’t really get the hype from this sunscreen, let alone to make it on my HG list. I would give it 3.5/5.
